Week #4 Keeping up with Algorithms Part 2

Amazingly, there are updates that strengthen the integrity of Google's several THOUSAND times a year, implying that multiple updates are being implemented multiple times a DAY. This absolutely amazed me, to which I naturally reacted with, "So why haven't I noticed?". As it turns out, there is indeed a way to see whether or not one has been impacted by one of these updates using software called Rank Tracker to see updates correspond with a site's traffic changes.

As mentioned in part one, one of the main focuses that many of these updates share, is weeding out all the irrelevant, low-quality, and all around 'fluff' content that can drag down search results quality. In the case of the update with Panda in 2011, it took 6 years for that update to really make any noticeable difference. A year later, the Penguin update helped weed out spammy and irrelevant links, as mentioned before, the second most prominent way to improve SEO was improving user friendliness. Hummingbird just a year after that cracked down on low quality content, as well as keyword stuffing. The list can go on, but the primary takeaway is that when there's quality content, an abundance of such, and a good algorithm to make for a good and efficient user experience, seem to be the main ingredients for the best SEO possible.
